The tide does not care that it is half past nine. In this town the causeway floods twice a day, and so the school run, the deliveries, the doctor’s appointments and the funerals are all arranged around a timetable older than the calendar.
It would be neat to end on a verdict. Life, and this subject, decline to cooperate, and we have let them.
